If you have a question that you can’t find an answer to on our site, perhaps it can be found in our list of frequently asked questions below. If not, then feel free to get in touch and a member of the Wood Works of Westerham team would be happy to assist you.
What types of furniture do you make?
We make all sorts of bespoke furniture, ranging from kitchens and fitted wardrobes through to vanity units and more. We have a team of talented craftsman who can bring almost any design to life. If you have an idea then come and discuss it with us and we will do our best to make it work for you.
Do you have a showroom?
We don’t have a showroom, we are based at the workshop where all the furniture is made and you are very welcome to come and see us at work. We do have many happy customers locally, who would be willing to show off our furniture and kitchens.
What is your process?
If you are interested in a piece of furniture or a new kitchen then we can arrange for one of our directors to visit you at your home to discuss your requirements and take any measurements needed to provide you with a design and a quotation. It’s always helpful if you have any style/layout ideas to hand, along with your budget expectations to allow us to get a clearer picture.
How much will a new kitchen cost me?
We are very competitive in our prices. We provide high quality bespoke kitchens and furniture and pride ourselves in working closely with our clients to make their projects work for them within their budgets. We don’t have the large overheads of flashy showrooms and glossy brochures to cover, which helps with this.
Have I got room for an island in my kitchen?
Kitchen islands are a very popular feature in a lot of kitchens, providing a great place for socialising as well as extra workspace. We usually recommend a minimum of 1 metre clearance around an island to ensure that the space doesn’t feel cramped. If you are tight on space then you can consider other options such as a breakfast bar to achieve a similar feel in the kitchen.
Who installs the cabinets?
We generally like to fit our cabinets ourselves but we are very happy to supply to customers who wish to make their own arrangements for fitting.
Who supplies the worktops?
We normally organise this – we have a very experienced partner company, who have done granite and quartz stone worktops for us for many years and other specialists for glass or Corian worktops, while we do wooden or laminate tops where required. Some customers have their own contractors that they wish to use: we can provide drawings and notes for quoting if required.
Who supplies the appliances?
We can take responsibility for this if you prefer, but most of our clients source their own appliances these days. If you go for this option, please do check with us before you buy to make sure your choices will work, and do beware of seconds and returns from ultra-cheap internet companies.
Who fits the appliances?
Whether we supply them or you source them yourself, we will take responsibility for ensuring the appliances fit, provided we know in good time what you have chosen! We can arrange for qualified tradesman to do plumbing and electrical connections, but on most of our jobs there have already been appropriate trades people in to do the first-fix stages of these works, and it is usually better for the same people to complete the connections. We expect to provide a set of plumbing and electrical drawings to ensure a satisfactory installation.
